Profile
Vibrant colors, the play of light, the technical challenges that come with kiln forming: these and many other factors caught my attention over six years ago when I was introduced to the art of fused glass.
Whatever time I had for painting, mosaics, or clay quickly moved to the backseat while I revisited glass cutting and learned techniques associated with fusing.
The opportunity to practice this new medium came easily. There was always an auction project needed for my childrens' classrooms, projects to be gifted and custom enhancements as we built our home. Children's art lends itself naturally to fused glass both in a child's simplicity of shape and color as well as the whimsical nature of design. I continue to find inpirations from the art of children and their view of the world. Samples of children's reproductions can be found on the page, Children's Art.
The opportunity to develop studio space came in 2005 with the building of our home. I have had the luxury of owning and operating my own studio, Studio238, since. My studio sits on the banks of Lake Sammamish where the calming presence of the water and expansive sky illuminates the studio with everchanging light, common in the Pacific Northwest. I invite you to explore the art of fused glass with me. I offer classes in my studio throughout the year, for those first beginning with glass art and those who wish to delve more deeply in fused glass design. Class descriptions and schedules are provided on the classes page.
I find that fused glass art is a medium that continues to evolve with the introduction of new materials and techniques in such a way that I am continually exploring, investigating and experimenting. The process of fusing glass brings excitement and sense of discovery at the completion of every firing. It is a process I enjoy sharing with others and I am grateful for every opportunity I get each day to continue to create.
